Scientific Standards

At Delhi IVF, we have strict procedures and protocols in place to minimise any risks in our laboratories and ensure you receive safe treatment to the highest possible standards.

We are certified to ISO 9001 for quality management systems, and NATA accredited. We also meet all RTAC (Reproductive Technologies Accreditation Committee) guidelines and are regularly assessed.

Identity checks

We carry out a number of identification and verification steps to eliminate any possibility of mistake. During treatment you entrust us to look after your precious embryos, and we take this responsibility very seriously.

New patients

At your first appointment, you will be given a unique identifying name or number – this could include your surname, birth date or a lab number. All your paperwork will correspond to this so we always know exactly where you are in your journey.

Patient admission

When you undergo a procedure you’ll be given an identity bracelet with personal details that identify you and your records. This ensures that everyone knows who you are.

During the IVF process

All tissue culture plasticware is marked indelibly with the two pieces of information that is unique to the patient undergoing that procedure, including both the bottom and the lid of the culture dish. These unique features are checked against the accompanying paperwork and signed off by the scientist every time the embryos are moved.

Our laboratories also have strict protocols in place that forbid the handling of more than one cohort of oocytes, sperm or embryos at any one given time. Disposable pipettes, dishes and everything else that comes into contact with body fluids or gametes are used once only.

At the time of embryo transfer, an identity check is carried out by the embryologist and the treating clinician, and crosschecked to the paperwork and the dish containing the embryos before the embryos are transferred.
